Though yesterday morning was freakishly warm (66 degF), I got up and ran my 4-miler. More than I would usually run on Mondays, but as this is a taper week, I thought I’d start at 4 and work my way down. Nothing seemed wrong with the run, except for sweating and huffing through the humidity. My day went fairly well. I wore shorts to work just in order to dare the weather to turn cool. Global warming, global schmarming. I don’t really care what they call it or what its cause, it was freakin’ warm out for running this morning! I expect to get to warm weather running fairly soon, but not in February. Especially with a half marathon coming in about seven days. That’s just plain cruel. (more…)
20 mile week…

This morning I did a brick workout. I didn’t know they actually had that name, it was just a good way to get in an extra run and a longer workout on Saturdays. However, I discovered this week in doing my research on triathlons that any two discipline workouts strung together constitute a “brick” workout. For a few weeks now, I have been getting up on Saturdays and doing an easy run followed by a bike ride through town. Not all of them have been placed very closely together, yet. (more…)

I don’t usually run on Fridays. It goes back to a major accident I had on my bike when I first began riding. I was hit by a driver coming from a side street on my morning commute…on a Friday. It was also one day before a fairly important ride. Though I wasn’t hurt badly, it was a really scary accident. It took more than a month to get over, including getting my bike replaced.
